Notes:
During the Second World War, the local provincial hospital operated a military wing. No 42 Air School was based on the aerodrome on the outskirts of the city and No 43 Air School at nearby Port Alfred. Port Elizabeth (North End) Cemetery contains four Commonwealth burials and commemorations of the First World War and 108 from the Second World War
